The model of Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen, shows the city as it was in the year 1670. At that time, many of the town-planning features were already present, which are still part of Copenhagen today. The district of Christianshavn is being developed, Rosenborg Castle and King’s Garden Park are established, and the same applies to the military installations Nyboder (Naval Barracks) and the Citadel. However, Copenhagen is still fortified and the old Christiansborg with the Blue Tower is still a part of Copenhagen in the year 1670.

On the model, you can also see Old Square and New Square with Copenhagen’s former Town Hall between the two squares. The four gates into Copenhagen are also on the model – Vesterport (West Gate), Østerport (East Gate), Nørreport (North Gate) and Amager Gate. As you can see on the model, the two gates are not in a straight line. In this way, you could avoid both gates coming under fire at the same time – if they came under attack.

Finally, Sankt Jørgens Sø (Saint George’s Lake), Peblinge Sø (Student Lake) and Sortedams Sø (Black Dam Lake) are shown on the model.

The model is showing latitude: 55°40’41″N and longitude: 12° 34’47″E
